3 Things to Do Before You Start House Hunting
August 21, 2026

When you start looking at homes, it's easy to get pulled in by photos and open house excitement. I get it. But a little preparation before you start looking saves you time, stress, and sometimes heartbreak. Here's where I tell every buyer to start.
1. Know your real budget
Talk to a lender before you fall in love with a house. A pre-approval letter tells you what you can actually spend, and it makes sellers take you seriously from day one.
2. Separate your needs from your wants
Two lists: what you truly can't live without, and what would just be nice. It keeps you focused when a beautiful home with the wrong floor plan tries to steal your attention.
3. Don't rush the first pretty thing you see
Buying a home is a big decision, and the right one is worth a little patience. Trust the process.
Buying a home should feel exciting, not overwhelming. If you're ready to start, I'm happy to walk you through it step by step.
